It's a very reasonable technique for warm water and no gloves -- I can say from experience that threading line through the spool holes with dry gloves and very cold hands is a project that rarely goes well.

Yeah I hear you, but it works well with gloves for deploying and when I am done using the spool I restow it one of the two ways showed at the top.
