SparticleBrane, you want me to change the title of this thread to "Just another one of the many, and the many, many more to come answers to the PST exemption"? :)

Roak

Sounds like a plan to me...
or perhaps "Yet another PST exemption bickering thread!"
:D

Good news for Pressed Steel Tank owners.
Rumor has it that our DOT is going to violate all its' own rules and allow PST LLC to renew E-9791. Further it looks like the DOT will further violate it own rules and "experiment" with letting PST bring shells in from Korea and finish them in the U.S.A.

I may be doing some backpedling, but not for the reasons previously thought........

I get "word" that the DOT is trying to work with PST Cylinders, LLC to qualify some blanks to be produced in Asia, for later finishing in a factory here in the United States for the production of cylinders. They will probably be qualified to another exception number, but this move may allow them to renew the original E-9791 exemption, putting owners in the clear for the time being.

This would be a RADICAL change from any previous action by the DOT and would require them to go against all protocols currently in existence.

Vance, do I get to use mustard and relish with those words if this comes about?

Thanks,

Phil Ellis

blanks are the term for flat discs of steel used to draw a cylinder-this is allowed by DOT. PST wants to bring in cups-drawn steel, ready for closing and heat treating, this is a gross violation of DOT rules as they currently exist.

I can't believe they are going to allow the import of complete D & I blanks for finishing. But hey, I am surprised that are considering any of this. So, who knows?

Anyway, this would be good for existing owners of E-9791 if this process allows assumption of the exemption by the new company.
