In loose team diving I'll admit I've chased the wrong fins a few times.

Also met people who customize their fins to be easy to recognize. Sorting equipment in the communal 'gear pile' is easier when it's not all shades of black in various sizes too.

What have you done with your fins?

My favorites visually are:
One white - one pink
Black with a white grim reaper on each in nail polish
Soviet style short broad fins in line green
Purple freediving fins
Red force fins

Light hearted thread topic. Photos wouldn't be inappropriate.

Cheers,
Cameron

I have the superman logo on mine. Bought them second hand.

Silk screening ink is the best. Even plastic spray paint doesn't usually last too long.

Palm trees using a stencil and white paint pen... wife touches them up every couple of dive trips as needed (she's the artist :)). She has parrots.

Mine are all black and generic looking. Just stick your name/initials on your tins if you are worried about not being identified.

My black fins have my call sign split across them. Since I got my orange Eddy fins no problem.

I have always painted the bottom of my fins my favorite color Orange, so my wife can always see me swimming away

I bent a old wire coat hanger into the shape of a one inch "M'. Placed it in the charcoal pit until glowing hot and then branded the tip of each fin with an M for Miller

After all ---I am a man of the west - we brand every thing

(well almost everything-- my dear ole formerly red headed wife, now sheep dipped red headed wife refuses to be branded- I suspect she has some good excuse ???)

I use a very small red zip tie on the spring straps. It's not really noticeable, unless you are looking for it, and can be removed if I sell the gear. I use this system on a lot of gear and it seems to work. I must admit I didn't "lose" anything back when I used no markings at all, I just didn't want to grab anyone else's gear by mistake.

Branding Sam, I didn't know you were from Texas.

... Soviet style short broad fins in line green...

Here's some vintage foot-ware for divers that won't be hard to spot. They might mess with your trim though.

@Bob BDF

I am NOT from Texas ! I am true blue CenCal !

However--- My great great grandfather and uncle and left their homes in east Tennessee with Davey Crockett to settle in Texas - one died at the Alamo, one survived became a state senator under Sam Houston and a son married my great grandmother in early 1840s when Texas was a country...

But I am a Central Californian !

Bob, Exactly how does that help in TEAM diving? We're talking about ID'ing another diver from his fin decor...

When you wear yellow force fins, you need no decor. Everyone just knows. Problem is if you break trim or do anything stupid, everyone knows too. No anonymity with those fins.
