A LoB I’m considering joining early December, together with my buddy, finishes on a Wednesday afternoon at Hurghada. The group I’m joining stays overnight in the LoB (docked at Hurghada) and then flies Thursday early morning to Cairo on their way to Athens/Greece.
Me and my buddy have few more days leave to spare, as we have to be back to work Monday morning. So we are considering spending these days in Egypt. The total time available to us will be somewhere around lunch time on Wednesday in Hurghada up to our flight from Cairo at noon on Sunday.
Where do you suggest spending these 3-4 days? Stay “near” Hurghada eg to visit Luxor and maybe Asuan, or fly to Cairo and spend the whole time there?
Hurghada to Luxor seems to be around 4 hours by bus and Asuan is another 3 hours. Do these worth the trouble, or should we just skip them all together and go for Cairo instead? Or 3-4 days are simply just not enough time to enjoy any of them and we should just head back home?
This will be my 3rd visit to Egypt, all for LoB trips, but I haven’t spend any time sightseeing other than a long (and a bit boring after a while) bus trip from Hurdhada to Marsa Ghalib I did to join a Southern Route LoB.
This time I want to see some more if possible.
Forgot to say, I live in a touristy area full of resorts, nice beaches and stuff, so staying in Hurghada to "enjoy" the sea and the sun is not appealing to me. Seeing some history and cultural stuff seems much more interesting.
Thanks

I did a ChatGPT search and it suggests:
- Wednesday afternoon move from Hurghada to Luxor by bus or car
- Thursday visit the highlights of Luxor (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Karnak etc)
- Friday fly to Cairo
- Saturday pyramids and downtown.
- Sunday fly back home.
Any comments?

We did that several years ago, leaving Hurghada by private van early on the first day, to see Luxor and surrounding sites. Skipped Aswan Dam and cruising the Nile. Early the follow day, we flew to Cairo, and spent two days there before flying to Abu Dhabi to get on a cruise. You can certainly see the Pyramids and a couple other highlights like the Cairo Museum in one day.
