If conditions are bad, obviously we won't make it to Lobos Rocks. However, Frank says if the divers are COLD WATER experienced (and I don't mean just got the advanced cert) and currents are running, but the divers on board are up to the challenge, we can do live boat drops.
What are 'live boat drops'??
 
It's when the dive boat does not anchor.... They stop the props/engine and the divers jump in... usually used for drift of hard to anchor places.... Often it is hard since everyone has to drop in short intervals to keep the group together and on top of the target.

edit: Not often used here in Monterey except for advanced dives...

Recovery can also be tricky
