Lol you're a wimp. You should consider something else rather than scuba.

Hey b18onboost, you're still wet behind the ears. Why don't you grow up a little before you decide to "help" someone......................

Happy birthday b18onboost, 21 finally, big age to reach, better age to prove your a real man. Ever failed or found something hard???

Kerstin,
Everyone has already hit on the best preparation techniques for clearing, but there is still something else you can try and you don’t have to get a single part of you body wet. Visualize yourself SUCCESSFULLY completing the task. Close your eyes and make a mental movie of yourself completing each step. Mentally add the feel of the water against your face., do it tonight before you go to sleep and again in the morning and again before you get in the pool. Remember the key is SUCCESSFULLY completing. This might sound alittle foolish but professional athletes from rock climbers to basketball players make this a regular part of their training, and they make millions of $$$ so it must work!
You should be applauded for your desire to face you fears and return to the water. Three cheers for Kerstin. Hip Hip Horray. Your in for a treat , see you below. Oh and where in Honduras were you diving. Just got back from 3 months of diving in Utila, Honduras. You know the COCO LOCO!!!!

My best piece advise is to keep your eyes open so you can orientate yourself properly. I too had the same issues when I started, salt water does sting! but I find that when orientated and eyes open its MUCH MUCH easier!! My first check dive after I qualified was at 18 mtrs and went really well with eyes open. I took my time, removed my mask completely and sucessfully got it back on and cleared no problem. It probably took me about 60 seconds. Good luck you'll do good.

Wearing prescription mask and not knowing how to swim I used to dread this too. But I learnt by practicing in the shallow side of a pool and in my bath tub. Very simple, just stand up so your face if outside the water if in a pool. Then bend down and fill your mask with water. Stand up again so your face is out of water. Hold the upper portion of your mask and keeping your mouth shut, blow through your nose a few times. then open your eyes. voila, the water is out. Just practice this outside water many times and then try it inside shallow water with your face inside. You will definitely perfect it by practice. All the best and let us know how your new session went.

You're a diver but you don't know how to swim?

This is one of my favorite subjects :D

Nope I'm not a diver. Not yet atleast. I have been on a couple of intro scuba sessions. Hope to enroll in to scuba training full fledged sometime middle of this year by which time I should be comfortable swimming.

my advice is simple get a good teacher ,one who like mine is totaly dedicated to the sport .I can not thank my teacher enough .
if you make an effort and truely enjoy water ,wait till you go into the ocean and see areef and the fish ,how peacefull ,seeing the fish in there world ,so cool
