I like the broad shrug followed by upraised middle fingers, aka, "What the ----?" (I've been on the receiving end of that one a couple of times.)

The funny thing is that even with all our ScubUNO, card, board, and dice game playing underwater, neither I nor my buddies really have any unusual hand signals. We *certainly* have some unusual signal phrases and sentences, but the "words" are perfectly benign.

To signal shark sighting, make a fin with your hand and place it on top of your head.

Pointing to your behind before making the shark sign signals: big arse shark.

fin on head and crossing yourself (ala Catholic style) BIG F-ing shark....

p.s. my fav. DM in Coz wears mis-matched fins that have "fish food" written on the bottom of them.

My favorite is the middle finger to my mask - vis f...ing sucks

We use one to signal an ascend to a specific depth. - Universal timeout signal then indicate desired depth.

Or with slightly open fist held to one eye and the cranking signal (like an old time movie camera) with the other then point. - I’m going to video that.

Or arms folded like cradling a baby followed by pointing – watch out, new diver coming that does not see you.

-At depth, underweighted, suit crushed to stay down, freezing cold. I thumbed the dive and gave the 'cold' signal. Got back two balled fists rolling on mask -crybaby.
