H2Andy:
my wife and i stayed at the Treasure Island Resort when we were there. nothing
flashy, but reasonable, they have access to the beach, and the on-site diving
with Bob Soto is very nice (good crews and boats). also, smack in the middle of
Seven Mile Beach, so very central.

i'd certainly stay there again.

Great idea, goes along with Drew said. Thanks

Dave

Can anyone suggest a place that would be well equipped to handle very young children?
How young?

Several of the resorts have kids day camp programs. The Hyatt, the Westin, Morritt's and a few others fit in that group. I would guess that you can get a referral to a reliable local babysitter from just about any concierge or hotel activities desk at any resort.

7 Mile Beach Resort and Club has its own dive boat and watersports facility. They have activities for children of all ages both underwater and topside. Prices are reasonable.

After reading all the post on this subject, I would recommend you talk with Nancy at Divetech. They have great shore diving, kids programs (kids summer camp, which my kids are going to), deserted beach picnic, walk for miles and see no one and great small new resort and the best staff. We went boat diving in the morning while our kids were in their bubble makers program with a licensed instructor. Their staff was awesome.
