Okay....I'm confused. One thread says Joe's doesn't open until after the Derby....another talks about April 1st diving.

So, is it open or not? Is there a current contact number?

Thanks in advance!!

Joe has an official season which is the weeekend after the derby and runs usually through the weekend closest to halloween. Through the "off" season he will allow folks to dive or conduct a few class related dives. The general rule in the "off" season is do not waste his time i.e. please be in a group of four or more, and let him know what time you plan to show up, and then show up and on time.

I used to have a contact number for him but I have lost it. jpsexton lives nearby and is generally able to get in touch with Joe.

Diver Lori,

Long time no talk on the board..

We hope we dive together at the local site.

You can drive up to BS tomorrow...

It was said today at BS that Joe's officially opens next weekend. Don't know when Derby is. 502-939-5049 is Joe's cell. He will probably open up for you.

I dove at Joe's today to practice skills with a buddy and to see the quarry conditions. Here is a report for the curious.

Average temperatures:
0 - 10 ft: 64 F
10 - 15 ft: 54 F
15 - 35 ft: 50 F

Visibility from the surface to 15 feet deep is about 25 ft (pretty good). Below 15 feet the visibility drops to about five to ten feet.

Time to dive....

That was me. I jumped the gun a bit, he won't be open officially for a couple more weeks but if you follow the rules as Jim pointed out he'll let you in.

Anyone up for a dive this weekend the 28th or 29th? :D

Going to Gilboa for the big M&G.
