Back in the day I used a 7mm farmer john/jacket. That put 14mm on my core. Diving the Great Lakes you're never going to be too warm in a wetsuit. I know semidry suits are supposed to be better than a regular 7mm but I'd suggest you rent a 7mm farmer jacket and take that along. Maybe try the first dive without.

Thanks everyone. After reading the responses here I went ahead and rented a drysuit. Very grateful for the input.
 
That definitely isn't a bad choice but you'd have been fine (and probably more confident) in your Hollis. I dove 128' and 81' diving wrecks in the straights (Lake Michigan side) a month ago in an O'Neill 7mm and was perfectly comfortable. Of course you won't know the temps until you're actually down there but it was upper 40's on both dives.
