Not sure if I’m in the correct forum for this but, I am looking at purchasing equipment for my son and don’t know what route to go. He is in his 3rd year of college majoring in Marine Bio and is currently looking to volunteer in a “scientific” diving program. He is currently certified as a rescue diver. He gave me a very general list of equipment he he looking for. He is looking for a BCD with integrated weight pockets, D-rings and pockets. He mentioned a yoke-style regulator with an octo (long serviceability times?). Pressure gauge - not sure on this..
I visited a local dive shop and they showed me all equipment by Scuba Pro. The BCD was a Glide. The pic of the BCD my son sent me was a Tulsa Liberator. I don’t know the first thing about purchasing equipment and I don’t mind spending more for better quality / features, especially given the career he’s looking to go to but, the prices are so drastically different and want to be sure I go in the right direction. I know there are other manufacturers and I welcome any advice you may be able to provide.
Thank you in advance and if this is not the right place to ask, please let me know where I should look.
