Enriched Air Nitrox Certification - Why such variance in cost?

I don't know anymore about the details of this, but as @Bob DBF said in his post, it is $129 and you can have it in a week.

"Have it in a week" ?? If it is PADI online enriched air you sign up for it online and have it instantly, includes certification card fee. Sounds like a scam, not real product. Probably a text book and DVD.

I am scheduled for my PADI NITROX class tomorrow at my LDS. He charged me $120. which I consider to be a real value. Dive computer based and no tables!

I would be very surprised if yo u found PADI online enriched air course for $129. Sounds like a scam.I think it is currently $189 or $200..but if it truly is $129, then yes you come in and get done at no additional fee.bring out completion sheet filled out with our facility as the facility of choice and there you go.

yes I saw PADI online course on Amazon for $129 listed by Dixie Divers in Florida but no indication that "Pic" is included in cost.

If you buy an elearning course fulfilled by Amazon, with the original seller being on the other side of the country, then how does the student get to test the tanks and log? I thought that the instructor going through the course, the student testing a Nitrox tank and logging it were a part of the course. Does the student have to find an LDS to partake in the practical stuff and end up paying extra? Am I missing something? It’s not clear from the Amazon description how that all works.

I would suggest that you also learn how to use tables, what happen if your dive computer craps out underwater and the most important fact to master is MOD fr whatever mixture you are diving..

I will ask you the same question I asked a couple days ago in another thread. My first dive was to 132 feet for 26 minutes using EANx 29. I was planning to do my next dive to 125 feet on EANx 30 after a one hour surface interval. My computer went bad. Tell me how to plan that dive right here using the dive tables.

Yes you would have to find a Padi Instructor who will assist with you checking tanks & administer a Nitrox test for a additional fee unless you had purchased Elearning through a specific LDS where this training would be included.

maybe your computer went bad since you exceeded Max. Depth of 126 ft. using PPO of 1.4 ata

Maybe it was just the LDS I did my Nitrox cert thru because some of these prices quoted are shocking me. I did mine thru SDI and the book for the Nitrox course was $36.00 and the course itself was $100.00; $136.00 total. After I had already done it, another SDI shop I frequent said he does the nitrox certification for $100.00 total, including the book. And this was just 2 or 3 years ago.

No dive is required, but you will need to be able to analyze a tank after the classroom/test work.

Naturally, my suggestion is to see if you can find a SDI shop close to you and check out their pricing.
