ScubaKVDM, you missed so many facts, I'm not sure where to start, but here goes.
First: Drink water.
Second: Water's good.
Third: Gearing up is strenuous
Fourth: Falling in the water is not.
Fifth: But drinking water is still good
Sixth: Drinking the water you're falling into is not good.
Seventh: Who the hell's advocating unsafe diving?
Eighth: When you get out of the water you fell into, drink more water, but not the water you fell into. Otherwise you may get dehydrated.
Ninth: Dehydration causes headaches
Tenth: Headaches can be reasons not to dive again
Eleventh: By drinking water, you reduce the risk of dehydration.
Twelfth: By reducing the risk of dehydration, you reduce the risk of the bends
Thirteenth: Ergo, drinking water reduces the risk of the bends
Fourteenth: It's not what you say, but how you say it.
Fifteenth: A DM taking his reg out of his mouth so he can stick his tongue out for photo's sake is not safe, nor does it set a good example as you pointed out a DM should
Fifteenth: And while I may not be a doctor, I've seen well-hydrated ones on TV and not one of them ever had the bends.
And unless I'm really off the mark here, I'm going to leave it at that.
