El Cid

I haven't stayed at El Cid before. Have stayed at Fiesta Americana, Occidental Grand and Casa Mexicana, so any comparisons to these would be appreciated.

Where is there to eat down by El Cid?

What is the internet access situation (in room, WIFI, in lobby, down the road, etc).

What is the quality of the accomodations (compared to one of the above, if possible).

What is the restaurant situation in the hotel. Cost, quality, etc.

How much is the taxi to town?

We got back 2 weeks ago..my how time flies!

Have never stayed at the other places you mentioned, so can't compare to those.

Eats close: Within a block...Ernestos & a Chinese restaurant. Ernestos was better than we were expecting. Didn't try Chinese, but were told it was where many of the Asian crew members off the ships frequented. Longer & much longer walks are the restaurant at Villa Blanca & Albertos.

Wifi in the lobby & restaurant...free. Just ask for the login & password at reception.

Restaurant in hotel is good. Breakfast was excellent. Prices are comparable to nicer restaurants in town. Don't do the AI. Cost is $70/90PP depending on whether you want normal or top shelf. A great meal for two at places in town like Kinta or Casa Mission will run $50/60 with a generous tip.

Rooms are nice...large, well furnished, comfortable beds. Some A/C's haven't been replaced & could be noisy at times...but they cooled great. Not too many TV channels, but we rarely turned it on. Rooms in the tower are supposed to be nicer.

Taxi is around $7 each way.

Ditto on what Budaman said about El Cid.

There is another thread about El Cid, I hope you get your answer. Overall I love to stay at this place. We have a timeshare and trade into El Cid twice a year.
