Economy Lodging in Key Largo

Hey guys,

Me and my buddies are planning a trip down to Key Largo the first weekend of April. I found some great information on dive operators, but I am having some trouble finding some cheaper lodging. I was hoping to find a small mom and pop motel somewhere for under $70 a night. A few years ago I found a place in Marathon for $45/night, is it possible to find similar rates in Key Largo? Thanks for your help.

Now that you have copy and pasted the yellow pages to the board....

For under $70.00 a night good luck! There are some cheaper places like the Hungry Pelican you'll just have to call and see what you can get, when.

I just stayed at Jules Undersea and it was $99.00 I did not haggle to get the $80.00 rate as I was too tired and the $11.00 was not worth it. You can rooms in the keys with double beds (two) and a trundle which is two more small singles. That is four peeps in a room that is a great way to cut cost.

The other option is Hotel Coleman.

Check out Gilbert's, Neptune's, Ed & Ellen's, and the Hungry Pelican. Budget rooms are scarce during the winter months.

If budget is more important than environs, Florida City is going to be cheaper than anything in the Keys. If that's objectionable, there's a motel at the entry of Key Largo that was advertising $49/night a few months ago, though I think they've since raised their rates. I'm going up to Miami tomorrow, if they still have the sign, I'll post the rate.

Not a dearth of responses; this subject was well-covered already. I stay at Amy Slate's. Not cheap, but excellent accomodations.

Times are different. We used to camp on the beach or stay at a campground on, I think, Bahia Honda.
