Yes, and all you have to do is look at Ted Harty to see this. He only provides instruction, no equipment, and his business is enough for him to make a living. I saw my first freediving only shop in FLL some time ago. Then in Marathon, and Oahu, and.... They are popping up like toadstools after a good rain, but I tend to think of them differently than scuba, only because the certification agencies "also embrace" them, but if you want good instruction, you don't go to a dive shop.I know it's not a part of scuba diving with tanks, gear, etc, But freediving certifications have just exploded from 2013 to 2016 and especially in that crucial 18 - 35 age group. A decade ago 90% of speargun sales were to tankers, now it's 50/50 to freedivers. There's dive boats running all freedive trips and some liveaboards overseas, its big money.
