The Pioneer 27 lbs doesn't have the blue track, only the bigger 36 lbs and 45 lbs have the track for the extra air expansion :eyebrow:

What ! Are you calling my 36 FAT ! That's it! :boxing_sm

Spoon:
i am looking at my friends pioneer now, no blue stripes. are these on the new pioneers?

I think that the 27 lb lift pioneer does not have the racing stripe but the higher ones do (cuz I think you need a bigger bladder).

PerroneFord:
Didn't mean to imply you *can't* use it, just that the Pioneer wings are designed not to NEED one, whereas the Eclipse one does need one.

Why are you using the STA?? Weight?

Wouldn't the feature of not having to need a STA be an advantage for the Pioneer (no need to spend another for that)?

I have the same little problem as Jason B - The Halcyon tank band slots don't line up with my DiveRite plate - so I too use an sta even though the pioneer has it built in. I switched from a Dive Rite Venture wing (which I also really like) but the halcyon inflator is so much slower and more precise - that is the major benefit for me. I have the 27# pioneer - no blue blue stripe, but much thinner profile than the Venture, which has a double bag design like the Eclipse wing does. Definitely a sleeker design, I just don't know if it makes much of a difference in the water, but it packs up a lot smaller for travelling.

Aloha, Tim

Since I'm in the market, isn't it possible to retrofit the slower "H" inflator on a DR Venture (which I liked when I tried one in FLL last month) or an Oxycheq Signature wing? Can you just do the inflator or do you have to change out the corrugated hose as well?

Is it possible to fit the Diverite delux harness to the Pioneer plate? Or do the Pioneer wing rods work OK on a Transplate?

I prefer having a chest strap and the thinner crotch strap looks better but the Pioneer wing looks better than the diverite travel wing.

After a lot of looking around and comparision shopping I just plunked down the $$ for the 40 Eclipse, alum bp, and 8lb sta. When I travel I only use 4lbs so the alum bp made sense with how tough the airlines are getting with weight. Up here in drysuit land I dive with a 20pony so the 8lb sta will be perfect for the way I distribute my weights for proper trim. Also went with the integrated weight pockets.
