Actually...I think they MAY already be closed for the season. They DO open for New Years day from what I've heard.
 
I stand corrected...THIS weekend is the last...saw another thread.
 
They are opened several weekends in winter but it is by appointment only from instructors. So, if an instructor you know is heading up during the winter you could ask to tag along.
 
While I haven't yet been up there in the middle of winter, I'm told it doesn't actually freeze. It gets pretty cold though, around 35 degrees.
 
I've been there on new years a few times. No it doesn't freeze, but it helps to pack on the layers under the drysuit.
