Tried both - bought a shoulder entry. I dislike the extra material around my waist with the self-donning and the longer zipper is more expensive to replace. With the SE versions, I think you can get a better fit out of a stock suit (at least that's my experience). Spend the price difference on a good pee-valve.
 
After a lot of contemplation and advice I got the self donning. I quickly dubbed it 'self daunting'. IF I really need to and strive hard enough I can get into and out of it myself. Still, It has to be much easier than a rear entry suit. Which would leave me completely out of the picture when soloing. Unless, I connected some 50# mono to the zipper , a quick release and rigged the boat with a long suicide cut off and....
