Question DUI drysuit - Zipper replace with glue-in instead of stitching

This stuff I got does say Toluene and also on the glass bottle of Accelerator. I roughed the surface of the inside of my old CF200 and cleaned with accelerator and used some mixed in the AquaSeal FD cement as per instructions. This for pin hole leaks. No patch. Not for zipper. It is not that flexible, but the name implies some flexibility. CF200 material is not that flexible itself.

I noticed the regular black neoprene cement in 4 oz can I got also says has Toluene in it. It is something to do outside. When some what cured I bring inside, but in a room I stay out of. When warm in day time air out the room.

Very cool. I just resealed the upper body seams on my Bare Pro HD drysuit using Aquaseal FD thinned with toluene. Managed to get a viscosity that made it easy to brush on. I will give a second coat tomorrow and then leak test. It dried within 2 hours at a 50/50 mix. I will be diving in the Bay of Fundy the last week of March so that will be the validation.

By the way, at least for TiZip, the latest guidance is don't roughen the zipper tape: TIZIP | KNOW-HOW FOR DIVERS.

The TPU coating is too thin to be roughened. Then there's a risk of water getting in and causing delamination. However, they have introduced a new version of TIZIP with hydrolysis protection and 14.5 PSI air tightness. No more delamination and costly replacements.

No need to roughen when using the correct glue & hardener according to the supplier's instructions.
