ShoalDiverSA:Hi there,
Please would you explain "donning in hog mode"? Just trying to get a mental picture of how it is done.
Cheers,
Andrew
When I don a hogarthian harness, basically I have the unit standing on the ground. Then, standing behind the unit, bend over and run my arms through the shoulder straps, reach behind the backplate, and grab the tank. Then I lift the entire unit up and flip it over my head. My arms are already through the straps, and I just let it slide down onto my shoulders. This works great for singles, obviously, it probably wouldn't work real well for doubles. The stiff straps of a hog harness make this a very easy way to don the unit. The soft flexible straps of an adjustable or comfort type harness makes it more difficult because the straps don't have enough stiffness to hold a position on their own. They end up twisted and just make a mess of the whole donning process.
If there is a table or tailgate to stand the unit on, you can squat and raise your arms up and through the shoulder straps, but I find the "flip it over your head" method a little quicker and easier. I had no luck at all trying to don the unit with the shoulder buckles unbuckled, then buckle them after donning.
Basically, I just try to get both arms going through the straps at the same time, not one arm, then the other.
Once again, these are just my observations, other's may be different.
