Hi All ,
Here I go again !, I keep moving from place to place, so sorry to ask again for recommendations !

I am looking to do DSD and OW this month,

  1. Is it a good idea to do this in the Gili islands ?
  2. If so what is the best island ? Is it Trawangan ? Or Air ? (from what I've read so far I assume it's Trawangan.)

  3. Can u please recommend a dive shop (maybe in Trawangan if that is the best place to shop for DSD+OW)
would be grateful for any recommendations. Btw I am a complete beginner.
Thanks for any advice.
Jack

Check out Devine Divers on Gilli Nemo Divine Divers: Welcome to Divine Divers
Mars and his wife Natasja (the owners) are a great couple and if you are looking for a relaxed, friendly, fun and professional dive shop then this is the one for you.
Read the Tripadvisor reviews and they all say the same.

I can greatly recomment Trawangan Dive on Gili Trawangan.
Good instructors. Great quality diving, and lots of fun outofwater ;)

There are 22 dive shops on Trawangan, 3 on Gili Meno, and 8 on Gili air. All the dive shops are diving the same dive sites. But there are more than 20 of them, so thats ok, not all the dive shops are diving at the same time. Some are diving 2 times a day, other 3 times a day, most of the shops return back to the shop after a dive.

Its up to you which shop you like, you pass them and choose which one you like the athmosphere or which one has trhe nicest instructor. Not all diveshops have a pool, maybe this is also a consideration before you start a course. Most of the diveshops are PADI or SSI diveshops.

Hi, thought I would update the thread with my DSD experience detailed here at http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/indonesia/440985-dangerous-dive-shop-what-do-you-think.html

Thanks for the information ! but the issues I am having is selecting a specific dive shop .
I chose them based on
PADI
Friendly staff (and instructors)
Pool

I did DSD with one and wanted to continue with OW , but not very happy about their service

I chose them based on
PADI
l

Can you explain why you chose a PADI centre? is it because this is the only agency you have heard of for scuba diving?

(this is not a criticism, just to judge your customer selection processes)

Just for your studies when I did mt OW course it was with PADI ONly because they were the only ones I had heared of that were recognised as world wide. I know different now.
