Hi. I was recently trimming the neck seal for my drysuit and long story short, it tore about 1/2 inch. D'oh!!! The rest of the neck seal diameter is where it should be. I'm trying to figure out if there are ways to salvage the neck seal. I've heard of two potential options:
1) Cut a very shallow oval around the tear and hope that the seal is still secure enough to prevent water from coming in. If this option is a good idea, can someone suggest where I should start the oval from either edge of the tear, i.e., how far away -- 1 inch, 2 inch, etc. ?
2) Try to find some old latex seal (used for drysuits) and see if there is some epoxy/adhesive that will (solvent) bond the two materials together.
I'm not sure which method to try first or if these are even reasonable ways to salvage the neck seal. I would appreciate any feedback especially since this is still relatively new to me. Thanks!
