My wife and I recently did four dives in the California Channel Islands. We both dive dry except for Florida and the tropics. I have a DUI CF200 and she dives a FLX50/50. Both have latex seals. In California the advantage comes in several forms. First the top side temperature on the boat is in the 70's. The water temperature was 49 degrees F. We striped on every dive so not to over heat. The Latex seals were extremely easy to doff and don (with care of course). We stayed completely dry the entire day. Latex also tends to conform to our angular bodies where neoprene may not do the trick. My advice is to start with Latex and if you fin latex confining, you have not trimmed it correctly. There is also available a military version of latex that is more more durable but I have been told expect only 25% more use from them. By the way, California diving is a real thrill. Do it whenever you can.
