I just ordered a set of Diving Concept's 2mm crushed neoprene dry gloves. What do y'all wear underneath your gloves? I was thinking about those stretchy gloves that little kids wear all the time...they allow mobility, are tight to the skin, but still provide some warmth.

Also, were can I get some surgical tubing to equalize?

Arron,

Depending on cold your hands get, you can get the glove liners from EMS,REI, etc. Nordic Blue sells lines for their gloves (www.nordic-blue.com). As for the surgical tubing, medical supply store or Mcmaster-carr. You don't need that much.

The DC gloves I got(crushed neo) came with thin liners. If you size them to fit with thick liners they will be loose with thin or no liners.

Aaron you can get surgical tubing in just about any sporting goods store in the fishing section... but coffee stir straws work well and they are to be found almost everywhere there is coffee.

BTW: I use the lined gloves but lately I have been also putting on a thin pair of thermax gloves I purchased at a local workwear store... they were cheap... $2~$3 and they really keep my hands extra toasty (Shane made the mistake of buying cotton ones to save a $1 :D) .

Chris at COVCI is great isn't he!

I use the Blue Gloves with the liner from Diving Concepts, but on occasion when I want to keep my hands warmer I've used my military glove wool inserts for that extra measure of protection, but I do sacrifice some dexterity for doing so.

You're right... Chris is a champ... in fact I added COVCI as a front page link to my personal site... I used his services for the last few years for products, cylinder inspection, O2 cleaning, and even took his PSI inspection class after he became a trainer. Definitely a class act and a very studious & knowledgeable person!

Yes Chris is great:

I use the DC Blue Nightmares and when the water is really cold I put those little chemical hand warmers in my gloves. They are small, fit in the palm of your hand and generate enough heat to keep your hands warm for hours. Oh and they don’t work when they get wet, so your dry gloves better be dry.

Like CWB, I, too, use military woolen glove liners in mine. Even if the glove leaks at all, the wool still offers protection.

And, like Arduous, when it's REALLY cold, I use the chemical handwarmers, too.

When the water temp drops into the 30’s I consider it very cold. I generally do not get cold in the body, but I have poor circulation in my hands and they get cold easily, whether I’m diving or not.
