AquaLung Legend LX - You'll not get it away from me. I love it.
I hear great things about this regulator, How does it hold up at depth? What kind of diving do you push the legend doing?

scubapro MK25/600 (2) (just trying to fit in with the local cave community -they swear by them)

but i have to admit....I did two pool sessions this week with doubles (first time ever)and a new drysuit (only 4 dry suit dives previously) needless to say, and got to test how they breathe upside down :rofl3:

a little wet. dissapointed in that. but all in all i LOVE em.

I'm a DS4 guy but I'm kinda eyeballin' these new fellers...

I know there are two schools either the same 2nd stage as a back or an inferior simple desing as a back up.

I have used the exact same 2nd stage as a back up though. I can't see the point that much. It is a back up as it is named. Why do you need the same pricey 2nd stage? The simple R190 or R380 do the job as a back up..

As for R380, it is the first time to hear about a performance on R380 with a trimix....
Could you please elaborate the problem more detail?

The 380 is the worst breathing 2nd in SP's lineup. I don't know why it sucks but it does. It does better with thinner gases, 30/30, 21/35, etc. Straight 32% is horrid.

The 190 has 1/3rd fewer parts and breathes better for plain nitrox. I have not tried it with mix yet. So if I had to buy again I'd get a 190 (staying within the SP line). The Mk10/20/25s are some of the best 1st for doubles anywhere. Mk10s are available used for cheap too.

I use the R390 for my long-hose and the R190 for my necklace. Both are the best regs I have breathed. I have had no problem with any mix that I have breathed through them and down to 150fsw. They both breathe in all orientations nicely.
they are also pretty easy to work on. Both of them are hanging off of MK16 1st stages (one is borrowed).

I know that you guys wouldn't go out and buy them, but I just happen to have a pair of Cyklon 5000's. I was thinking of putting together a doubles set up just for experience. Good or bad ideal ? How about hose length ?

adios don O

Just a newbie diver... but since you asked.

Watertemps are quite low here during winter and I'm planning on diving all year long so performance in low temps (low 40's) is important.

I dive a double valve tank:

Main = SP MK17 / G250V combo
Backup= SP MK16 / R290 combo

Some experts on this board could probably tell you the ins and outs about both 1st and 2nd stages but I'm more then happy with them.

MK 17 is sealed/diaphram regulator that is bulletproof... together with the G250 it's a good combo.
MK16 is not sealed but still a rather good coldwater 1st stage... since the R290 is unbalanced it won't freeflow as easy it's my bungeed backup 2nd stage.

Cheers
