I have, what I hope, is a simple question.

I have a set of double HP 100's banded together, a SS backplate with harness system, and a Dive Rite Rec Exp wing (~45lbs fresh water)

Something just seems wrong. When I try to attache the wing and backplate to the tanks the wing ends up being pinched between the tanks and the backplate. this seems like it can cause a pinch flat of the bladder in the wing.

Does anyone have any pictures, video or diagrams of the assemble process? Seems so simple, maybe I'm missing a spacer or something.
I've found plenty of information on assembling the tanks and assembling the harness to the backplate, but nothing putting everything together.

A video like this would be helpful, except I need to see a backplate instead of the transpac:

Thanks,

When you say the wing ends up being pinched, do you mean the bladder gets squeezed between the backplate and a cylinder? Which part, exactly? Perhaps you could send some pictures of your rig at different stages of assembly so that we can know what, if anything, is wrong.

Yes, the bladder seems to be pinched between the backplate and the cylinders.
Pictures should be attached. The back plate is about 10.5 inches (26.5cm) wide and the hole/webbing in the wing is only 8.5 inches (21.5cm) accross; Anything wider than 8.5 inches will make contact with the bladder.

You're doin it right.

Alrighty then.
I can't see how this could get screwed up, but it just doesn't seem right that 1 inch on both sides of the bladder are being pinched off. seems my 45 lbs wing is going to be more like 30 lbs.

DR put out some video a while back about making their wings higher capacity yet not as wide. Well... There ya go :)

I think Tobin George from DSS frequently makes the point that lift numbers are only accurate if they are measured with the tanks actually in place.

That does seem like it might not be optimal. When I put a plate on my Explorer it fits right into the non-bladder fabric section, and the bladder isn't covered by the plate; I'd be worried if it was.

Is there perhaps some especially narrow plate that's supposed to be used with that wing?

I had previously done almost of my doubles diving with very big and heavy LP tanks, using a 58 pound wing, the only doubles wing I owned. I recently did some diving with double AL 80s and a 45 pound wing. I couldn't believe how dinky that thing looked on my tanks, but it did the job just fine.
