I very briefly scanned through this. Do you have a single cyclinder wing on your doubles?

This wing is supposed to be for doubles or singles. I have another singles only wing and it measures about 6 inches across the hole/webbing.

I sent a message off to dive Rite, but it may be a while for a response. So, we'll see what they say.

also, lose of lift was not really a primary concern of mine; the biggest concern is incorrect installation and damage to the bladder.

I had the same concern w/my xs 108's and dive rite wing. My instructor told me it was normal and not to worry about it.

Here is the response from Dive Rite (pretty quick... thank you Dive Rite)

Jeff,

This is normal. It will not harm the wing, but yest you do lose some lift. This is the nature of mounting a wing like this to a set of doubles with a backplate. However, more of the lift is pinched out from your back against the tanks than the backplate. The Rec EXP in general works for light doubles, but it all depends upon the suit, mounting options (a SS Plate is 6 lb or more), and other objects carried.

Perhaps this wing is not optimal for my setup, but should be OK. I'm just going to switch out the SS plate for my Al plate and hopefully find some time to test it out soon.

When I try to attache the wing and backplate to the tanks the wing ends up being pinched between the tanks and the backplate. this seems like it can cause a pinch flat of the bladder in the wing. . . . Seems so simple, maybe I'm missing a spacer or something.
I don't think you are necessarily missing a part, although you can easily create a spacer if you wish.

Looking at the pictures, I am wondering about the position (depth) of you band bolts - the top of the plate appears to rest closer to the body of the cylinders than the bottom. But I cannot tell if this is just a visual illusion - probably is.

One option, if you are particularly concerned about physical damage to the bladder from compression between the edge of the plate and the cylinder - add another hex bolt, as a spacer, to one or both cylinder band bolts. Can this affect your trim? Possibly a wee bit, as you are shifting your cylinders away from your body by 1/4 - 1/2 inch. But, it also opens up the space between the cylinder wall and the BP edge.

Adding a spacer to move the tanks away from you just increases your profile in the water. Buy a proper wing if your current wing cannot float your doubles.

I know this is old, but if you end up going for a true doubles wing, DiveAddicts.com is selling Hollis doubles wings for like $130.

I would tend to agree that it won't damage the wing, however there was a thread a while back about using wings that are too small and bending the backplate.
