whatever came of this did you guys pick a logo?
Well, I can't say much about officialdom, but as long as you're here and you appear to have screen printing knowledge, might I pick your brain?

For screen printing, do the colors need to be flat? If so, I suppose I should create a flat-color logo, with the colors minimized. Basically I'd just make the blue D, blue fin stuff, and blue mask all the same shade of flat blue. The mask lens and snorkel would be the same shade of flat pink. The smiley would be flat yellow, and the orange D would be flat orange. Obviously, the black parts would be black. That would get it down to five flat colors: blue, pink, yellow, orange, and black.

Could pink and yellow be "dithered" to make an orange-like shade? That would reduce it by a color, if the savings are significant enough to make it desirable. (This is assuming it's a custom color process and not standard colors as in offset printing.)

Anyway, just figured I'd attempt to find enlightenment, since I'm fairly certain you know more than I do about it. (Or at least, *someone* knows more than I.)

I can print that with the same gradients that you have in there! I think that your logo would look good printed:D

I assume you mean by flat no gradients?

If you want to talk about processes and what it takes from artwork to shirt give me a call I will be more then happy to answer any of your questions. 805-642-0090

capatalizing on some iconic logos... just dork it! / dorks just wanna have fun (Cindi Lauper?>>>Iwas a kid in the 80s) / hmmmm... someone at the door gotta go! they might think I'm looking at porn

I am a self professed lousy graphic artist. I think the Dork Divers Network needs a truly cool logo.
I welcome any and all suggestions . The top designs will be posted in a poll (if I can figure out how to do that) and will be available online and on apparel.
You can post your designs here in this thread.

There WILL be prizes!

Thanks!
Dave

Not sure if the logo picking contest is a done deal, but I figured what the hell. I'm not that great of a graphic artist either, dut I did make a few logos. Since I couldn't decide which one I liked best, I picked my top 2. Hopefully you guys like em even if the contest is closed...

Outstanding!

The second one is... disturbing. :D (It should be well-received by at least a subset of DDs, eh? :rofl3:)

As for the first one, it'd make a *great* back-of-the-T-shirt (with the DD logo on the front "pocket"). It looked so cool, I vectorized it (which only took a few hours and about a quarter mouse life worth of clicking and dragging ). I can also render a version with transparency instead of the blue background if someone needs one for printing:

I figured I ought to do something else to thank you for the concept, so I also whipped up an avatar-size version, in case you (or anyone) may want to use it:
