Do you work for MBSUB? Why are you carrying on about the Dorcy lights?

You should check his post history, on TDS, and probably here, too. Any light thread, you can be sure he'll pop up and recommend MBSub. Puts the "Fan" in "Fanatic"!

There was another guy from the UK on a couple of other light forums who would jump in every time there was the slightest problem with a dive light that I and others had. Our light costs $100 and his costs $700 and every post was something sarcastic anytime there was a problem with a product that he didn't even have.

It's annoying after a while:)

(For the record I don't have either of the lights discussed here...Intova or Dorcy).

I was going to order two 220 lights tonight, but this review defiinitely put a stop to that.

Pick up some 180's instead. The Gen II models have the same bodies as the 220's with the knurled head/changed hole in the tail to tie on a snap. One disclaimer, I haven't gotten the 180's wet yet and am just going off the above water performance. Extremely bright tight beam. They've been camping with me and they're like light sabers with a very long throw but still tight. I can't imagine them leaking. They'll be getting a good workout starting Friday (unless I can get on a boat Thursday afternoon). Most likely the former though, a few cerveza's while catching up with old friends will probably occupy my first day.

I just ordered the Dorcy 220 Lumen Dive II from dorcydirect.com. Shame on me for not researching on ScubaBoard first. The Piranha Penetrater 220 is $3.20 less and all I can see different is it does not say Dorcy on it.

If this is your biggest mistake in life you've done well.

well, apparently my posting is helping at least some open-minded people reconsider their choices, and I assume you read that review whose 'link' I posted for you ? .....so it's not just my say-so that the mbsub lights are a class act, now is it ?

and nope, don't work for mbsub, no relationship at all, other than as a satisfied customer.

maybe you can direct me to some 'professional' scuba tester links promoting the Dorcy lights ?

honestly, I've got nothing against Dorcy lights, if they work for ya, that's great, I'll admit I'm a perfectionist and have very high expectations for the quality/performance of my gear, I expect to be able to rely on it in a tight spot so I have no tolerance for non-serious dive gear, YMMV.

and who put the "Dud" in "CompuDude" ? ...since you're following my posts, I'm assuming you read the 'professional' review who's link I included for you earlier in this thread reviewing the mbsub lights ? Apparently, it's not just my opinion you need to rely on, is it ?

I took 4 lights out to my garage, set them all in the same place and took pictures with the same camera using the same settings in the same place. Each light was 12.5 feet away from my garage door. All batteries are new. I could not upload such large pictures and did not want to re-size them, so I'm hosting them independently, each is approx 4.6MB.

It looks to me like the 220 is brighter with a slightly larger hot spot and a different color than the 180.

Three-AA size Mag-Light LED

Dorcy 180

Dorcy 220

Dive Rite LED 500

None of the lights are going to "let you down". Lights don't do that. They all can fail. That's why we carry backups. There is no big thread about Dorcy lights not working.

The point is no one has said anything bad about mbsub lights. You don't need to constantly clarify that point...no one is saying otherwise. They do cost 4 times as much and that is the issue. Everyone can decide for themselves whether that's a deal breaker for them or not.

It's like talking about economy cars and someone who just got a Porsche keeps interrupting telling everyone they should go and get a Porsche.

this is quite odd. my dorcy dive II doesn't have a 'doughnut' ... and appears much brighter then the supposedly 180 lumen intova. i posted a beamshot in my earlier post, but a mod seams to have removed it :S. i also have an intova 4.7. i will upload comparison beamshots as soon as possible!
