PennyP - if you moved to Fort Lauderdale, you wouldn't have to worship George I from so far away...
Well I just like to LOOK at him. I figure if I were there he'd get a restraining order....then I'd be back to oogling his arms in pictures and videos..........

Besides, I just bought a condo....I can't move now!!
(almost did though!!! But not for GI3 ;))

H2Andy:
it's about two (possibly fictional) divers (who may or may not be DIR) and their
(alleged) conduct as observed by someone who has a decidedly anti-DIR interest

Explain why someone who works for Apollo Sports which happens to make split fins, among other products, is necessarily someone with an anti-DIR interest. Does it have to be them against us? It's hard to believe that a fin preference can be such a devisive issue. Reminds me of the arguments on rec.audio.high-end: Tubes vs. Solid State, Analog vs. Digital.

They all produce music and they all have their fans.

This is silly.

well, you said that his anti-DIR interest is that he works for Apollo, not me

what i MEANT by anti-DIR interest is that he has chosen to pick an "anecdote"
which highlights bad things about DIR... hence he has an anti-DIR interest in the subject

i mean, what possible rhetorical point could he be making by sharing
this annecdote with us? it's not "let's all get along and love one another"
that's for sure

this is silly, btw... i do agree

So if you are diving for FUN, would that be "recreational"? If you are diving with some sort of technical task (welding, search, construction) would that be "technical".( O I forgot "task loading", using your brain makes it technical I guess) I have to say I laugh pretty hard when I hear about someone who calls themselves a "DIR Diver" who dives for FUN making fun of "recreational" divers using "recreational" gear. And yes, I dive for fun....with doubles on a plate.......

If one diver says they are "doing it right", is that a claim that all others are "doing it wrong"? Happy diving!

ok sparky everybody knows tube/analog is far superior:D

GUE recommends JetFins or Turtles, no split fins.
Apollo makes split fins.

GUE is not endorsing Apollo fins, therefore anyone associated with Apollo would NOT want to see GUE more widespread.

Is this a difficult concept?
I thought it was basic marketing/supply and demand stuff.

that is so 19th Century

it's all relative, man... there's many ways to be right

(if this was good enough for Einstein, it's good enough for me)

lamont:
So,

anti-DIR diver #1: if GUE did (blah, blah) they could take over the world

anti-DIR diver #2: i don't believe its right that GUE would try to take over the world!

You're basically talking to yourself, GUE will not and does not want to take over the world, next topic...

Lamont, you're reading a lot into this that isn't there. We've gone from the specifics of why GUE in not logical for adoption as the standard of recreational diving to taking over the world.

Are you guys going land your spaceships or just gonna zap us from space? ;)
