i agree with others. It depends on what your objective is in your diving , up to what level atainment you want to get to.

But i think if you get to a point where you are able to find you diving level (depth, type of diving) you would get to a point where you have attained your gear to your comfort and that's it. you would just maintain it and spend on trips.

on the gear, the most one time acquisition i did was a LIFT BAG that can lift 200 lbs. and i got it at a minimal cost. Lift bag for 200 Lbs. less than $20.00. I made it!!! and it has worked wonderfully! (we used it to lift several submerged bundled bamboo poles with total lengts more than 100 ft with bundles with more than a 1 Meter in diameter bundles.)

:o)

If it means more primetime hockey then see yah NASCAR! ;)
Problem is that there's not prime time NASCAR...it's all lazy sunday afternoon coverage....

I like being lazy on Sunday...but yeah...we need more hockey coverage on the major networks.

Well, if you dive regularly the cost never stops ... because just about the time you've got it all, stuff starts wearing out and you've got to replace it.

Then there's the "new toys" that you don't really have to have ... but you want them anyway (different size wing, new HID light, etc) ... it's always something ...

Last year I was certified and bought a whole kit minus tanks. And I dived a whole lot, enough to feel I got my money's worth.

Please, my more experienced bretheren and, uh..., sisterns tell me my credit ratings will recover.

I got certified (and thoroughly addicted to the underwater Crack). and splurged thinking I'll not get another reg/bcd/computer for quite some time.

turned out that I spent just under $2000 for it all (AL Legend LX + octo, Suunto Cobra, BC, fins, snorkel, mask, bottle)

*whimper*

Yeah, I'm broke... and I'll be broke for another 3-5 years, but I figure that this'll last me a while.

or at least until I get into cave/serious wreck diving

... or dry suit diving

... or rebreathers

nevermind... no, it doesn't end. It's underwater crack. You'll do anything for a fix.

I say break the bank, when you die you can't take your money with you, might as well use it while you can, even if you spend the money you dont' have....

I have a roof over my head, food in my belly, I do without a new couch, no cable TV, small things like that help boost your scuba funding.

I have basically resigned myself to the fact that there is no end in sight for me.

Not in the next couple years anyhow, & then who knows?

I've got all the major gear, but... I would really love an HID light, etc, etc.

Now the money will go towards training again. Hopefully I'll get my DM course underway soooooooon. Then I really would like to get a couple specialty courses.
One day (hopefully not too far away....) the Instructor Course/Exam & probably some more specialties.
After that I'm sure I'd love an U/w camera.... perhaps even a video camera..... *sigh* hahahaha. & i haven't even really paid for all the equipment i have now

I just bought a brand new dry suit...for 1400$ and a new digital camera with uw housing for 1000$ *sob*
I don´t think it will ever end...also I´m shopping around for a live-aboard in the red sea, the rescue course and maybe a wreck course...I NEED a raise...
