Do you need a dive flag for shore diving?

Even with a dive flag you have e to be extremely careful especially south Florida. Boaters don’t have much respect for them. Stay very close to your flag
 
In that case chief, I would suggest staying as many metres below the flag as possible, or not tow one

A danger except to the regulators who must be float and flag manufacturers, or just plain simple folk

I second this. Flags seem to be an attraction for boaters and morons on jet skis.
 
...and fishermen who think it's fun to snag a flag... then get mad when you cut their line!
