I just don't log dives
I did on one occasion. I had just geared up and was walking over to the dive site with my primary reel clipped onto the rear crotch D-ring. Just before entering the water, I made the decision to unclip the primary real and clip it to my shoulder D-ring. I used a rope attached to a tree and waded into knee-deep water. As I released the rope and moved further away, I slipped on a bed of rock and landed on my rear.

This also happened to a cave diving buddy who slipped and landed face down on a muddy slope. I’m wondering whether using ski poles could have prevented his spectacular fall.

I would like to hear your views on how you counteract wacky hypotheticals.

I view them as my subconscious trying to tell me something and very much try to figure out what it is before I get in the water.
