Unless you get a double hose "old Style" reg like the AquaLung Mistral, I don't think so. What kind of reg were you using?

I know some regs have different exhausts but for the most part they are the same. Someone else might know. I have used AquaLungs for many years and don't have a problem.

OW poolwork usually means sitting on your knees on the bottom. This is not the normal diving position, which is more like laying on your belly looking down. Once you start diving it gets to be a habit to get into this face down posture. I would think that this along with Onfloat's reco of exhaling slower should take care of your issue.

Have you asked your instructor for tips about this?

I dove for the first time today. ("poolwork" in a lake) I noticed the incredible amount of bubble that the reg produced. It made it hard to see when facing paticular directions.

So do they make any that are less "bubbly"?

Yeah, they are called rebreathers - for sevthousands of dollars

Come north and we'll pop a nice thick hood on your head.... bingo, no more loud noise.

I have the opposite problem. With my hood on, my bubble noise is quite amplified.
