I don't use the screws. I've built over a 100 set ups over the last 10 years for people. Some wanted them so I put them on. Soon though they ditched them. For convenience to keep from having to reposition the wing when switching tanks a zip tie works just as well, it easily removed, and doesn't leave a head that might come into contact with the cylinder. Depending on the wing and where the roll control ribs are if it has any, a cylinder might end up on the screw. No issue with a zip tie.
All of the plates and wings I've used and most that I have seen with slots, have 3 holes that align with the ones in the plate. Run the zip tie through two of them. Problem solved.
