That will work except for the O ring part, the tank has straight threads and the plug is taper thread so it will not screw in far enough to get to the O ring but it will work just as well without the O ring.

The ones I have/use are straight thread also and the o-ring fits nice and snug and it screws down just fine. Been doing it for years.
Or just go to your LDS and see if they have any tank plugs from the manufacturer.

That is a common taper pipe thread plug. If you can't screw it all the way in by hand it's not straight thread.

I'm not arguing with you. The ones I have are straight and screw in flush to the o-ring by hand.

I have a few straight ones also but you can't buy them at the local hardware store plumbing department. Usually they come with new tanks that don't have valves. The hardware store ones work fine but the O ring isn't needed with them, they will seal well enough. Just pointing out the difference.
