Hi, any1 know the DM memberships of all the organisations in particular IANTD and PADI? Please state in what currency as well. It'll be good if you know the cost of liability insurance in your region and pls state the region as well.

My DM insurance is through Willis. I paid $315 USD last year. Insurance runs June to June.

My PADI membership is $79 USD.

I actually carry PADI and SDI DM. That is how I can get insurance through Willis, so yes, you can purchase insurance through one, and have it cover both. Provided the carrier will cover both. Check with your carrier.

If you won't be teaching, and you won't be doing any other independent work, you probably don't need to carry insurance.

Sometimes, if you are working through a shop, the shop will pick up a portion of your liability insurance. I work independently and through a shop, so I carry my own.

What do you do independently as a DM? My LDS doesn't use DMs all that much and is going through some changes that is resulting in even less usage. I'm having to drive a couple of hours to another LDS to do anything lately...and that's not that often either. I'm not in it for the money of course, but I'd like to be doing a little more than I have been.

I pay $110AUD per year to keep current as a PADI DM but i had every intention of letting it drop until i decided to do an IDC.
I dont have insurance at all as its not needed here, but when i head overseas i will get insurance for sure.

DM is a job. If you get a DM rating, get insurance. PERIOD! Keep your insurance current until at least five years after your last DM job. If you don't plan to work in diving don't get a DM rating. For PADI, stay at Master Diver and take all the training that you want.

Hey Dudes, i din wanna pick up the insurance so far because i will be heading to UK for studies this coming september. (currently residing in Singapore)

was wondering if i will be able to pick up insurance only if i decide to teach only den??
What is Willis's website?

There's no point in getting the insurance until you're going to need it. I waited a few months after getting my DM because we were hitting the slow season and I wasn't going to be DMing for a few months.
