diving with hole in tooth and chamce of tooth squeeze?

hi

i am off to hurghada in 11 days and today i noticed that ihave a small hole in my tooth at the side where it is next to the next tooth. it is not chipped but more like a little chippy kinda hole. i phoned the dentist and there is no appointments. plesae don't tell ME to try and get 1. i was wondering the chance of me having a tooth squeeze? i was thinking that if it is a hole thne the air is not trapped and therefrore will escape the same way as it cam in; is that correct?

btw the hole is in 1one one 1 of my incissors.

If it is an open hole there should be no problem.

I have dove a lot bad teeth. I have had a missing filling, and I dove with some broken teeth. I have never had a tooth squeeze or a "mouth squeeze." That is not to say it can't happen, but it has not happened to me. For what it is worth.

I'd like to ask a slightly related question. I have the invisalign for teeth straightening. I'm supposed to wear it 22 hours a day (and I have been, religiously). I asked the ortho if I can dive with it without getting a squeeze and he said to just not dive with it. That's not a problem if I'm doing 1, max 2 dives a day. But then you take it out to eat as well so could be a lot more...especially if on vacation where you eat and drink and dive a lot. Any chance for a squeeze with this? I'm guessing yes so will just continue to remove when diving. Any thoughts though?

The pain caused by pressure in your toothies can be a mind bending experience.

Get a little bottle of tose over-the-counter "toothache drops". Likely oil of clove or some such thing.

He's worried about a choking hazard. For the limited amount of u/w time, I'd take it out. If you are a "biter" of mouthpieces, you'll just be fighting it's effects anyway. Fish largely have misalligned teeth, they won't notice

Just go for it Craig, the problem might exist if you had a temporary filling that did not fill the hole properly leaving some air trapped inside with an even smaller hole to the surface of the filling, this could theoretically cause a tooth squeeze while ascending.

LOL! OK, but if a fish DOES say anything that's it!!!

My dentist has not become richer thanks to me and I've never had a real problem with diving and dental issues. The only time I felt anything was when a filled cavity had some additional decay and the air inside did compress and expand, but there was no real pain associated with it.
