Although I won't be able to make the dive-in this saturday because I committed to a boat to catalina along time ago, I thought I'd give people some ideas of what they could see at vets. this stuff is out mostly at night, but you can still see a lot during the day.
the crabs, shrimps, octos, and flatties might be hiding, but fringeheads, nudies, fish, and some rays should still be out.
there's a small artificial reef at 65ft just south of the main stairs, and a detritus field has formed nicely from 45-60ft directly in-between the main stairs and the north staircase, with lots of algae growth, nudies and fringeheads.
I thought conditions last night were really nice, with pretty good vis at all depths. water was in the 60's until you got past 60ft, then it slowly cooled off, I had 54 degrees at 80ft last night. surf was fairly low. no currents or surge.
personally my favorite diving is from 35ft to 80ft deep. the rays are generally between 15-25ft. most nudibranchs I see are small and in algae growth or on kelp, from 45ft-72ft deep.
here's some photos, enjoy, and have fun diving on saturday
fringehead, 50-70ft
C-O SOle, 35-55ft
juvenile Giant Kelpfish, 35-55ft
catriana columbiana nudibranch, 40-60ft
anemones, 40-60ft
starfish
octopus, 30-100ft
black dorid, 40-90ft
tiny skeleton shrimp, 60-70ft
torpedo rays, 60ft & deeper
brown shrimp, any depth
baby black sea bass (seasonal), any depth
