I was wondering if getting prepared for a 2 days diving trip in catalina for Labor day would not be too late ?

I was thinking about spending 1 night there (any recommendation on a diver-friendly place ?) and get 4-5 dives spread arround the isalnd, either shore or boat - whatever is most common.

Note: I may have to stay within the 40ft limit due to children...

Thanks for any advices you may have.

Finding a place for one night in Avalon is a problem. (If you're an attractive, single female, you could PM Dr Bill with a photo. I'm sure he'd find you someplace to stay. :-). )

:D

Edit .. for someone that doesn't know DrBill , he's kinda Catalina's unofficial ambassador of good will and truly a nice guy

Someone call me?

Seriously, Labor Day weekend it will be impossible to find anything other than a 3 night minimum at our hotels and my guess is that they may be booked up already. However, it has been a very slow summer due to the economy so I could be mistaken.

You can dive with anyone of two primary shops with dive boats. My favorite is SCUBA Luv (310-510-2350) but Catalina Divers Supply (310-510-0330) will give you a good experience as well, especially if you're looking for a two tank dive.

I'll be at the dive park on Saturday. My two great nephews and another nephew are doing their Discover Scuba dives.

The dive park is one of my favorite places to dive. It seems that no matter how crowded it is topside, the dives are always nice. Sometimes it gets a little crowded going up or down the entry but other than that, it a great place.

Or hop on one of the dive boats that does a multi-days trip through the weekend. I believe that the Sundiver is doing a two-days Clemente/Catalina run and still has several spots left.

Thanks, Fn!

I do have some spots left and we're planning on stopping by Avalon Saturday evening if you'd like to go ashore, Stargost. Feel free to give me a call and we can talk about a family package ;)

Maybe I'll see your divers at El Galleon's karaoke Sat night, Kyaa! I'll be the one NOT singing.
