8:30AM, 2 tanks, hopefully enter off the rocks near Long point. Are you thinking of diving then?
I'm meeting a friend of a good friend @ 0830 Vet's park for a shakedown shore dive to modest depths, (she certified last year, OW and AOW, eager as a pup, has only done Casino Pt shore and some boat dives, wants to get into beach diving), so I'm going to miss you all :crying: in the morning at Marineland. I'll keep an eye on this thread, and drop in at ML later in the day if it looks like anyone will be there. May the kelp be UP and the sediment DOWN! :51:

Yeah, you're probably right about Malaga. It got hammered pretty bad last week. Thought it looks like a lake this morning on the webcam. Maybe the DiveVets will try it today or tomorrow and give a report.

On Saturday I have an Army Confrence Call from 9-10 a.m and I have to show a property at 4:00p.m. But outside of that I am open to diving.

Melvin,
I'm guessing we'll be just starting our second dive at Marineland around 11am or maybe noon on Saturday, so you can join us after your call.

Haven't dove Marineland since mid December, this Saturday sounds tempting!

Hey Brad, this board is for divers, not for people who think about diving in so-cal and only dive in Hawaii! :)

Just kidding, I hope you can make it, let me know when you know for sure.

Scott

Wow, LSS is saying that's Shaw's is STILL only 6-10ft. vis this morning. And it looks so beautiful on the webcam. Though I did see the San Gabriel river STILL flowing this morning, so maybe the junk is still puttin' a funk in the dunk.

UPDATE: At 10am they are saying 12+ ft., and only 1 ft. waves. Gonna be nice this weekend...

Ok, Jim and I have talked about the following tentative schedule:

8:30AM
Meet at marineland parking lot, dive briefing, 1st dive, off long point
10:30AM
breakfast on the bluff overlooking the water (on the trail that goes off to the right)
11:30AM
dive briefing, suit up for dive #2

Christian, I'm thinking that in case you only make the 2nd dive, melvin/claudette might only make the 2nd dive too, maybe they will be up for a 3rd dive. Or maybe Jim and I will also! What do you think! or you can get you butt out of bed early... :)

Brad, hopefully you'll make the 1st dive.. anyone else is welcome to come also...

Bring at least an AL-80 tank, and a dive light; max depth 50-60ft.
2 entry points - rocky pebble and rocky boulder.
There is a decent climb to/from the dive site, on a dirt road.

Here is info on the dive site:
http://www.sandeaters.org/ (click on dive sites, then marineland)

What does everyone think? Who else wants to come?

Just because I don't like getting up early doesn't mean I won't. If I'm able to make it (I'll know later tonight), then I'll make it to the first dive.

May I suggest Malaga if it is divable as an alternative site. Easy entry off Torrance beach, shallow depths (15-30 fsw) and lots to see Vs, Redono depths 100+ and just sand to see.
