Three cheers for Papaws who still jump on trampolines. Sorry this happened. Since recovery from this (and any) surgery can vary from person to person, I strongly recommend that your surgeon be front and center in the conversation.

Best regards,
DDM

Absolutely! He is and will continue to be. I appreciate the advice and guidance.

And yes, trampoline jumping Papaws (I was playing with my 13 year old grandson at the time) are awesome ... until they land very awkwardly in the foam pit. That was NOT how I planned to stick that landing! Doh!

I had a very positive post op visit last week with x-rays. Four weeks now post-surgery and my incision is fully closed and the fusion is well aligned and healing nicely. My surgeon also took me out of my cervical collar and has given me approval to slowly increase my physical activity. My right arm and hand weakness is improved significantly. Not yet back to before the accident, but much improved. I am still under limitations on how much I can lift and on any strenuous activities. I am allowed to walk as much as possible as well as stationary biking. I am also allowed to begin gentle stretching and strength building exercises for my neck and shoulders.

I go back to see my surgeon again in 6 weeks. At that time, he expects to be able to fully clear me of any remaining restrictions. I hope to be back diving around the end of June!!

Great news!
