My litmus test for naming pets has allways boiled down to just what I would be willing to stand in my driveway yelling. While I might be willing to stand out in my pajamas yelling "Here Spike, here Spike c'mon boy", I am a little less enthusiastic to be heard hollering "Here mittens, here Mittens, c'mon girl".
This thread got me thinking though. I've only run into one other diving named pet, a local dive shop in Sacramento CA has a shop cat named Deco Dan.
