See Creatures, Dive Center of Nautilus Liveaboard offered a complimentary warm-up diving in Cabo San Lucas, prior to boarding Nautilus Belle Amie for Socorro on January 7, 2021. They took us to a dive site called Land's End. What a pleasant surprise to see a family of California sea lions swimming around us that morning. A great warm-up diving before sailing to Socorro!

When I was there in Dec 2019, I was lucky enough to come upon a huge baitball and the sea lions hunting amongst it! Just luck, but it goes to show....you just have to go! You never know what will happen. It was magical!

I have some questions! My girlfriend and I are coming to Cabo to do a liveaboard with Nautilus Belle Amie next month. We have 2 free days in Cabo san Lucas prior to getting on the boat, and are considering diving on the first of those 2 days. We've thought about going up to Cabo Pulmo (with Manta Scuba Diving). I was initially looking at diving landsend and the sandfalls, but she has some concerns: she's been to Cabo before (didn't dive) and saw a ton of boats, presumably driven by drunk vacationers, around that area when she took a boat tour.

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on spending that 1 day of diving either more local in San Lucas or taking the day trip up to Pulmo.

I see that OP @Dan had complimentary warm-up diving with Nautilus. If they still offer that, saving a few hundred bucks might be worth it.

I was initially looking at diving landsend and the sandfalls, but she has some concerns: she's been to Cabo before (didn't dive) and saw a ton of boats, presumably driven by drunk vacationers, around that area when she took a boat tour.

They put barrier around diving area & dive boats to park right outside of the barriers to keep non diving boat traffic from going into the diving area.

Good idea. I went 3x to Socorro with Nautilus (twice on Belle Amie) and on the last trip, I took their offer to go on a day dive to Cabo Pulmo to dive with Bull Sharks. That was a cool dive trip.

We've dived Land's End and either Neptune's Finger or Pelican Rock three different trips. I've never felt threatened by any of the boat traffic. The "tons of boats" you are referring to are water taxis that bring tourists out to Lands End from the marina. They are piloted by qualified and experienced captains.

Agree with @Dan about the dive areas being blocked off. After surfacing from a dive, divers then swim across the barrier back to the dive boat.

Throwing out an option if you decide on Cabo Pulmo and want to save a little money. Cabo Adventures (an excursion company) offers a 2 dive trip to Land's End + another site AND to Cabo Pulmo. It is not a typical dive op

First Cabo Pulmo: Cabo Adventures picks up at select resorts/hotels, but CA is located in the CSL marina. Both divers and snorkelers may be going to Cabo Pulmo, but once there, they go their separate ways. From CSL, you travel to San Jose where other divers may be picked up. Once in Cabo Pulmo, you are directed to the dive op/boat you'll be on (I think any of the dive ops from CSL and SJ are partnered with dive ops in CP.) Boats are small and dive times are limited to 45 minutes (a CP rule.) Lunch is also provided. Here's the best part if saving a couple hundred bucks is worth it - the cost is ~$200 which is up to $100 less than the other dive ops. Not sure that CA will do this but several years ago, they had a BOGO free deal around Black Friday time. My buddy and I dove CP for the price of 1!! We also did the Land's End trip 2 for 1 as well as the whale shark trip and a few others. Saved a lot of $$.

I checked out several dive ops the last time I was in CSL and went with Dive Cabo, located in the marina. I liked that they alternated days of diving between the CSL bay and the corridor, but went with them because they were a little cheaper.

I did 3 days of diving with the Cabo Dive Center, now See Creatures, in 2019 before a liveaboard trip to the Revillagigedos on the Nautilus Explorer. Unfortunately, weather and sea conditions did not allow us to dive Lands End, the Corridor, or Gordo Banks. I still had a perfectly good time.

Did they offer this dive before getting on the boat to Socorro? I’m joining Belle Amie in May. Will be wearing a new wetsuit so would love to see how much weight I’m going to need and how it feels before getting on the liveaboard!

Yes. Good idea. I did the same back in May 2021.
