See Creatures, Dive Center of Nautilus Liveaboard offered a complimentary warm-up diving in Cabo San Lucas, prior to boarding Nautilus Belle Amie for Socorro on January 7, 2021. They took us to a dive site called Land's End. What a pleasant surprise to see a family of California sea lions swimming around us that morning. A great warm-up diving before sailing to Socorro!

Great video. The day we dove Land's End, a few years ago, the only sea lions we saw were on the surface.

One of our favorite dives. Done it twice, first time through the inner passage, as the current was right, second time around the outside due to too much surge on the inside. Both dives ended up on the wreck.

Sea lions were prominent on both.

We were supposed to be back there last November, hoping we can just fast forward to 2021 and do it again.

Thanks for your kind words!

The last time I was there I only saw them on the surface too. One of them hopped on a fishing boat deck to get leftover fish baits from fisherman.

We did this dive back in 2012. Vis was not as good and the sea lions were basking in the sun on the rocks.

I saw that too. The water temperature there were 68-72F, much cooler than in Socorro (75-77F).

I'm not surprised. The Sea of Cortez water temperatures change so much during the year it's likely the world's record.

Heading there in July. Water temp then?? Any takers on guessing? Plan on doing the Lands End dive for sure and probably not much else unless you can recommend any others to me. Wife's 50th will be spent on style so all inclusive either in town or out in San Jose Los Cabos.

Can’t help you on water temp, both times we’ve been there were in November which I understand to be when the water temps are highest.

Regarding Land’s End, we’ve done it as a two-tanker, both times doing Pelican Rock first and then Land’s End.

Hi, I've logged over 25 dives in the Marine Park (Lands End, Neptunes Finger, Pelican Rock, North Wall...etc. You can expect 68-74 degrees in July. There are a lot of thermalklines so sometimes your a little cold and other times you feel like you have just jumped into a hot tub. I've dove with a few different companies...my best and most recommended is Manta Scuba. Ask for Julio (Black Shark) as I've logged LOTS of dives with him and he always has a good read on visibility for the day and dive site selection. If you like deep dives 100+ft and want to see the sand water falls request Neptunes Finger. The thing I like about Lands End is the inside shoot, sea lions and if you demonstrate good skills ask about the super secret little cave in the wall of Lands End on the east side. Its not really a cave dive but its neat! Pelican Rock is good as its not some good wall diving to about 65 feet and in the fall there is a huge school of fish (millions) swimming around.
If you do go to Manta with Julio, tell him Bombero Loco sent ya :)

PS I was there last week diving the Corridor and Marine Park. Also try the Corridor. Blow Hole and Punta Ballena are great sites and have different creatures to see. If ya like shore diving my 13 year old daughter and I love diving Chiliano Beach, a reef is about 100 yards out and depth of 25 feet so we got 1 hour and 27 minutes on the reef last week and saw eels, sea turtles, black tip and lots of Sea of Cortez Rasp.

Here is a video we did with Manta shot in Lands End, Neptunes Fingers and Pelican Rock.....enjoy and let me know if you have more questions as I've logged over 75 dives in the Cabo area. :)
