i agree about the current. we dove during a change in tide and current was really strong. it also stirred up the silt so viz was almost zero. everyone in the group eventually got separated.
 
currents weren't so bad when i've dove there... then again i didn't go too far out from the reef...

only la luz has dive facilities that i know off... it's mostly a sandy shore and the "reef" only really happens in front of laluz and the resort further south whose name i forget

if you really need to dive and are in the area it will suffice, if you're looking at an alternate spot to add to an itinerary of good spots you'll be disappointed... ben's right, it's a good place to get wet while the family is doing the beach
