For those who haven't visited it yet, I'd like to recommend that divers who come to Catalina Island stop by Jon Council's history of diving museum located in the Casino building right by the City of Avalon dive park.

Over the years Jon has amassed an amazing collection of dive equipment which is on display. He is always willing to expound on a wealth of information about diving history and very amenable to answering questions from visitors.

Heck, I even found my original dive knife from the 1960s in his collection!

A few quick images of Jon's museum that I captured yesterday

A very presentable collection and certainly well presented .

Is the museum a 5013c or a private for profit origination ?
I have a lot of items that could possibly fill in some gaps in his collection

Thanks for posting - now for the close ups of the individual items

I have and used the Desco Jack Browne (AKA Black Death) on the right but I don't know anything about the mask on the left. I have one in my stash and can't even remember where I got it and never dove it. What is the history on these masks? Built for firefighting perhaps?
