JimLap:
Welcome Carol. I met you at Mt Storm a couple years ago. I was diving with the guy who smoked the pipe and played the guitar. Don't know if you remember but you struck me as a most gracious lady and fine instructor.
JIMLAP - Yes I do remember the two of you. Congratulations on the certifications you have earned since that meeting. I will probably be back at Mt Storm the second weekend in July 2008 - maybe we will run into each other again. If not somewhere else - I will also be at Portage for their Legends of Diving Weekend in August and at Gilboa the first weekend of June for DUI DOG and Demo Days.

Hi Scubalady!!! Welcome to Scubaboard. Glad to hear the ages on the liveaboards. I didn't start diving until I was 49, (last Feb.), turned 50 in March, just got DM and live, breath and dream diving. Thanks for letting us know it ain't all over till the big lady sings.

A couple of years ago I had a student who was just starting diving - at 72. He is now a Master Scuba Diver and will probably go for his Divemaster this year. He has also done something I have yet to do - cage diving with great whites. I don't think that anyone is ever too old to do what they want.

I owned a retail dive center for 32 of those years. I sold it in January of 2006 and now have the time to do all of the diving that I wanted to do then but did not always have time for. Believe it or not running a dive store is fun but very time consuming. Since the sale I have dove in Belize, Cayman Brac, Gilboa, Portage, Circleville and Lakeview Park quarries in Ohio, Mt Storm West Virginia, Tahiti, the Bahamas and Ginnie Springs in norther Florida - not bad for one year. I started my own web site and posted a few of my dive trips.

One of my friends read my report on diving Aqua Cat out of Nassau and suggested I join the ScubaBoard and share some of my adventures. She also suggested I post a few photos and I probably will do that. In the meantime I just wanted to say hello to everyone and join in the fun of this site.

My web site is www.thescubalady.com Check it out and let me know what you think.
Hi Scubalady! Welcome to the Board! My friend, DivingParrot, has told me about you and suggested I look at your intro. Would love to talk more about diving with you!

I hope you'll put your site in your Sig and enjoy posting here... ;)

If you haven't yet, click Forums above and start going thru the list - looking for those of interest to you, especially your local dive club. Always good to try a Search before starting a new thread, tho :search: and be careful about posting Threads & Replies without reading the Stickies at the tops of most forums. Click the link in my Sig below to PM me if I can help you around here..

Indydivegal, Hello to you also. I would love to chat with you sometime. I read your profile and the notation that you are interested in nitrox. A few years ago I made the prediction that one day when a diver goes to the dive center for an air fill the question will be "what percentage do you want?". This is almost coming true on the liveaboard boats. More than half of the divers on every boat I have been on last year were diving nitrox. Granted it does not gain you much in Blue Springs but in the tropics it is well worth it. Go for it.

Hi Joe,
Nice web site. I have a daughter who started diving at 3 - her brother was 4. Of course they did not go deep and mom or dad was with them all the time but it is nice to know that 40 years later they are both still diving and loving it. He is rescue certified and she just completed divemaster. With the dive schedule you have posted we might cross paths some day. I love Bimini - the whole scene above and below the waters. Carol
