I'm so excited! I missed out on diving last weekend because of the rain....so I can't wait to get out and get some good dives in! That, and I hear that Casino Point is pretty cool ;)

Casino Point is cool but after a few dives, it gets old quick. You know, same scenery over and over again. I "think" that there is a map showing the underwater stuff like Jacque Cousteau's plaque, a couple of wrecks, etc. It probably wouldn't be bad to obtain this map and do some UW navigation exercises.

By afternoon (probably 2PM-ish), the tide starts to run low and entry & egress could be slightly tricky if there is some surface choppiness. The concrete stair that leads down to the water ends right where a couple of large boulders occupy. When the tide is high, it's no big deal, but when the tide is low, you can stand a good chance of getting slammed into these boulders during entry and egress.

There is a small restaurant just half a block away that most divers go for lunch because of convenience. Be warned, the food ain't great, but it will fill the belly. However, the waitresses are rather comely Latinas with certain generous attributes that make men go stupid.

Are you bringing the water heaters? (HP130's)

Oh man, you know it! :D

After careful consideration, I've decided I'd rather lug around the beast than have to worry about figuring out my weighting on a different tank....and if they rent only out AL80's, I don't play that game anymore :rofl3:

The entry and egress is a lot easier now that they rolled that big boulder out of the way.

I guess I must have the "Groundhog Day" malady... I've done between 1,200 and 2,000 dives at Casino Point alone over the last 40 years and I still find new things to see.

Wow, when did they do that? I've been suggesting it ever since they moved it there in the first place. I've been down to the park a number of times the past week (although not to dive) and hadn't even noticed!

Wow, "fnfalman", why so negative? I'm just a noob diver and only been diving 3 years with just 113 (106 So.Cal.) dives and 23 at the "point" and I still find the park a fun place to dive and still find new things to see. Guess, I got a few more dives to do 'till I hit Dr.Bills numbers.... ;-0

Oh for the rest of you inquiring minds, here is the predicted tides for Saturday the 8th:
high 5:49 AM + 4.66' , low 12:02 PM +1.64', and high 5:38 PM +4.03'
And the weather report looks great! Looking forward to seeing ya'll and enjoying the day.

Hi Dr. Bill,

I thought you were the one that posted about it a while ago. I'm talking about the big one that's in the middle.

I agree!! I always have a great time diving anywhere around Catalina....its like my second home! And I thought the food at the Casino Dock Cafe was pretty good.......I guess everything taste good after two dives.

I was there at the Point last weekend it was beautiful.....Have FUN!!!

Come on Bill, that rock was moved last year! Maybe you are thinking of a different rock.:cool2:

As for the mention of the map, I highly recommend getting it. Franko's comes through again on that one and they're available at both dive shops on the island.

I'd never dove there before, but with the map and my compass, I was able to find most of the stuff I tried using the map. Lots of fun!

Try Divenav.com, They have a cool look at the park.
